I’m Kirk Ahlberg, a former financial planner with 20 years experience in the financial services industry. By age
45 I had lost both my parents to cancer -- ovarian and esophageal. I created this website because this sort of easy
resource was not available when my family needed it. May it serve your family well.
My mother died of ovarian cancer in 2001 and my father of esophageal cancer in 2015. When my father was dying my
sister and I did our best to provide him with care in his home as well as helping him manage his financial, legal
and medical wishes. At times it was overwhelming. It felt like I was trying to balance a stack of legal, financial
and medical dictionaries on top of a blueberry muffin. Alas, the muffin was only strong enough when it was joined
by it’s friends: pizza, pint of ice cream, and six-pack of beer. It was not a healthy time for me.
But enough about me. This site is all about you and your family. You are likely in the middle of an extremely stressful time. Perhaps you are trying to provide care as well as navigate the complicated worlds of finances, medicine and law.
